ETAW Supports Successful “Embracing Cultures” Event Promoting Maragoli Language in Vihiga County

On 27th December 2025, media personality Herman Kamariki hosted the inaugural Embracing Cultures event at Walodeya PAG Church, Chavakali, in Vihiga County, Kenya—a vibrant cultural celebration aimed at promoting and preserving the Maragoli language and heritage.

The event brought together over 250 attendees, including more than 200 children, who actively participated in a wide range of performances. The children showcased their talents through songs, poems, traditional dances, spoken word, drama, comedy, and other creative activities, all delivered in the Maragoli language. These performances highlighted the richness of local culture while encouraging young people to embrace their identity and mother tongue.

The successful first edition was made possible through the generous support and sponsorship of Empowering The African Woman (ETAW). With ETAW’s support, all attendees were provided with breakfast and lunch, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment throughout the day.

Notably, about 80 percent of the attendees were women, reflecting strong community participation and the important role women play in nurturing culture and supporting children’s development.
